Discovery of the Yosemite [Kindle Edition]
This narrative tells of the events which led to the discovery (by the new settlers) of the Yosemite, describes their impressions on seeing the wondrous rock formations and spectacular falls and their awe at first seeing the 'great trees'. It includes accounts of meeting the members of the tribal nations who inhabited, visited and passed through the region and observations of their cultures. In addition to the illustrations which already form part of the original publication, this edition has been enhanced by inclusion of photographs both contemporary and from a similar period to the writer.

American Big Game In Its Haunts; The Book of the Boone and Crockett Club (Illustrated) [Kindle Edition]
Contains photographs from this period as well as additional wildlife images.
The Boone and Crockett Club was founded in 1887 by Theodore Roosevelt and George Bird Grinnell with the aim of promoting hunting with a view to sportsmanship and conservation. The spirit of the club was in respect and admiration for America's wildlife and hunting by the "fair-chase" method. The club worked for expansion and protection of Yellowstone National Park, elimination of commercial market hunting, creation of the National Park and National Forest Services, National Wildlife Refuge system, wildlife reserves and a conservation and land ethic in general. This book, first published in 1904, is a collection of journals from members excursions, along with an account of its policy with regards to conservation and game management and protection. It tells of the state of wildlife numbers in the early twentieth century and describes the decline of some species. It includes the club constitution and articles of membership.
